Show Highlights

Hundreds of quilts made by SCVQA members will be on exhibit. Look for special exhibits including small group Challenges, and a special childrens' challenge as well as others. Demonstrations such as machine quilting, hand quilting, machine applique, hand applique, machine piecing, hand piecing, and easy binding application will occur at various times during the show. Door prizes will be given throughout the weekend. Each member is entitled to hang one quilt in the show but is encouraged to enter up to three quilts as they will be hung if space permits. Every quilt wider than 20" is required to have a hanging sleeve. Quilts 20" or less may be pinned. A quilt story may be included with each entry. There will be 20 plus vendors selling sewing machines, fabric, embellishments, jewelry and other fun things.

Activities and Demos

Bed Turnings of antique quilts from the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles will occur at 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM each day.

There will be demonstrations at various times during the weekend on hand and machine applique, hand and machine piecing, hand and machine quilting and easy binding.

An I Spy game will be available for children to find special effects among the quilts on exhibit. At the completion of the game, the child turns in the form to the entry table and wins a prize.

An important activity of SCVQA, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation, is community outreach through Philanthropy projects. The Philanthropy exhibit includes information about philanthropic services provided by the organization and an opportunity for attendees to learn to tie quilts.

American Quilt Society certified quilt appraiser Nancy Bavor will be appraising quilts. Appraisals will be $45.You may make an appointment for a 30-minute time slot and receive a thorough appraisal of your antique or contemporary quilt of any type.

There will be a "Touch Me" quilt made by Joan Chamberlain. You will be able to TOUCH and explore the parts of a quilt and see different styles and techniques used. Since we do not want any hands touching the quilts in the show, this will give an opportunity for potential quilters to enjoy the feel of a quilt.

"Quilts and Specialty Items for Sale!"

For sale in the Quilter's Treasure Chest will be specialty items and quilts donated by SCVQA members. Look for reasonably priced quilted wall hangings, tote bags, pillows, pin cushions, name tag holders, quilted post cards, and many other treasures which are perfect for gifts for Mom, family members, friends, and yourself.
